- Follow the steps below to properly
dispose of your expired medication
- Take unused or expired medication from the
original container
- Mix the medication with an undesirable substance,
such as coffee grounds or cat litter
- Put the mixture in an empty can or sealable bag
and throw in the trash
- Some drugs should still be flushed because of
possible abuse potential. The drugs that should still be flushed are: Actiq, Daytrana, Duragesic, Oxycontin, Avinza, Baraclude, Reyataz, Tequin, Zerit, Meperidine, Percocet, Xyrem, Fentora, and the generics of the above medications.
